10 Citrus Inspired Simmer Pot Recipes

We’re sharing Citrus Inspired Simmer Pot Recipes today!

At the end of every quarter, we celebrate entering a new season with a house blessing which includes deep cleaning our island cottage from top to bottom.

It’s a little extra work outside our modern-day cleaning schedule but it always feels so good and smells so clean when we’re finished.

In addition to lavender-based cleaning products, I alternate using simmer pots and candles throughout the year to keep our home smelling fresh.

An Alternative to Candles…

Simmer pots are a great option if you want your house to smell nice without the expense of continually buying candles or if you have allergies and need an alternative to candles altogether.

The great thing about simmer pots is they’re budget-friendly and easy to make no matter what the season.

Our favorite simmer pots are citrus-inspired simmer pots because citrus is readily available at almost any grocery store throughout the year.

Plus, citrus can be easily paired with a variety of herbs and spices which means the possibilities are endless!

Tips for Creating a Simmer Pot…

Fill any size pot with your desired ingredients from fruits to herbs to spices. Obviously, the bigger the pot the more ingredients you’ll need. Next, add enough water so that the ingredients almost reach the top of the pot without spilling over. Bring the contents of your pot to a boil. Then turn the heat down to low. Allow the contents to simmer for a few hours, add water as needed (about every 30 minutes) and fill your home with relaxing goodness.

As always, use caution and care as water and simmer pot contents will be hot. Do not allow the simmer pot to burn dry.
